Elvis - 2025 Coated Raw Fleece

$145.00

Elvis is a 3 year old Debouillet whether purchased from Whirldworks Farm out of Texas in 2022. He’s a pretty atypical Debouillet in that he grows a 17 micron fleece. He grows the finest fleece out of my entire herd, but what he achieves in fineness will always be countered by a shorter staple. That said, the staple measures 1.5 to 2” with no tension, but has so much spring that under tension you can easily add another inch. The hand on this fleece is exquisite and is begging to become a lace project.

There is 3lbs available. The outer part had a lot of dust blown into it and get was rinsed off along with the others, but there’s very little if any VM. Elvis is a very clean boy.

That said, the wool is like spiderweb with crimp so fine it’s almost invisible. Spin this on it’s own for lace, or if you were looking for a short-stapled wool to blend with another short fiber to lend some spring, this would be fantastic to blend up with something like paco-vicuna, camel or quivit. Pictures are of the fleece, the staple as-is, and include a washed lock so you can see that the staple is sound and how much it relaxed with some hot water.

I would not recommend processing this fleece using cards. I use superfine combs and get the loveliest top out of Elvis.

Shipping is included in the price for the contiguous US. If you’re outside of that, please use the contact form to get a shipping quote for your area.
