Violet - 2025 Coated Raw Fleece
Violet is a 3 year old Rambouillet ewe, originally bred by Ewe Bet out of Loveland, CO. Her 2025 fleece weighs at a 6.15lb skirted weight and has a 2.75” staple length. Violet can’t decide what color she wants to be, but I would call her color close to charcoal with the occasional splash of mocha and the tips sun bleached to a caramel. The pictures photograph lighter than what the fleece actually is.
Violet is a medium wool - she tested at 24.9 micron last year. Her fleece is extremely typical of Rambouillet - a LOT of spring and squish and not a lot of lanolin. Her staple length is sound and the crimp is even and fine. Pictures show the fleece, a representative lock with ruler, and a few pictures of the fleece layers in the bag. I have also included a picture of a washed lock. Violet escaped the great sheep rinse-off from last year and although coated, she picked up some VM under her coat close to the edges, but it’s a negligible amount and shakes out easily.
